It’s February and one of my favorite times of the year to target Hogfish! The cooler water temperatures moves the larger fish closer in, making them more easily targeted on any of our deep sea charters. The size limit for hogfish increased last year which is why this time of year is best to target keepers. By using specific, proven methods to fish for them, we are able to be more productive, rather than just hoping to catch a couple. Our tackle and bait is dialed in to catching the bigger hogs but also can handle keeper Gags and other snapper. This is also a great time to enjoy comfortable temperatures while fishing, typically shorts and a long sleeve shirt are perfect attire. It’s also a great time to get the kids out on a 3 hour trip, because its not too hot and the action is non stop.
