Well, spring fishing season in Clearwater Florida is here, our favorite time of year to target a huge variety of saltwater species. The amount of bait moving into our inshore and offshore waters is increasing by the day and with it comes the predator fish. The water temperatures play a big role in this transition and it will continue to get better as we head into March and April.
Let’s first take a look at the Deep Sea Fishing
The past week we have run several charters from our half day to full days, and everything in between, have been red hot. The half days are seeing solid catches of Hogfish and various other Snapper species with a few keeper Red Grouper mixed in. There’s also plenty of Gag Grouper that are fun to fight for a catch and release photo. Our most popular trip, the 3/4 day, has been knocking it out of the park with good numbers of Hogfish, Red Grouper, Mangrove Snapper and much more. There’s good reason why that’s a customer favorite! The full days we are targeting Red Grouper and having good success catching limits.
On the Inshore boat we have been experiencing good Trout fishing with several large fish in the mix. The Redfish are starting to get into transition mode and becoming a better target species to chase. The Snook fishing will improve with warmer temperatures right around the corner. Spanish Mackerel will also begin to be an option as we head into spring. These fiesty fish are a lot of fun on light tackle and make for some great eating cooked up fresh at on of the local restaurants.
If you’ve ever wanted to experience saltwater fishing, now is a great time to do so!
