This time of year is prime for targeting Goliaths, sharks and cuda’s. The heat brings large schools of spanish sardines, thread fins and blue runners to congregate on offshore structure. In turn the Bonita and other predatory fish zero in on these locations. You can bet the top of the food chain species aren’t far behind. This week we have seen an increase in Bulls and Blacktips with a few Hammerheads in the mix. The Goliaths have been aggressive and most averaging 250 pounds. Not only is topwater fishing for barracuda is a great way to create action and get the predators interested. It’s also a good warm up for my charter guests prior to doing battle with a huge Bull or Goliath!
