As is typical this time of year, the fishing in Clearwater continues to be good. Depending on which species we are targeting will determine our success rate and at what degree. Right now we are dealing with mid day heat, which can slow up the inshore bite just a bit so the mornings and afternoons have been better. The deep sea fishing doesn’t get too affected by this heat, unless targeting certain species that red in the upper water column.
With that being said, our inshore boat has been enjoying catch and release redfish, as they are schooled up and once found can be caught in good numbers. Most of these fish are along mangrove islands and grass bottom estuaries in the Clearwater and Dunedin areas. The beach Snok fishing has slowed a bit as these fish are starting to move in the passes and away from the beaches. Targeting them around the area bridges has yielded the best results for us.

catch and release redfish action!
On the full days our deep sea boat has been doing very well with the Grouper along with some lane and mangrove snapper to round off the fish box. The half day charters have been catching Grunts along with a Gag Grouper or two, as the water has heated up and most of the bigger grouper have headed out to deeper, cooler water. The Shark fishing has been and remains excellent with mostly big black tips and bulls around.

Gag Grouper for dinner!
