The transition from winter to spring in Clearwater Florida has begun and its no surprise that the inshore and offshore bite has picked up dramatically. Warmer water temperatures and an influx of bait schools has the game fish active.
On the deep sea boat we are seeing great catches of Hogfish, Mangrove Snapper, Lane Snapper, Grouper and more. The Amberjack are as feisty as ever and although it’s catch and release for them, it’s a fun way to get the drag screaming and the arms burning! As we progress into March we will see Kingfish and Spanish Mackerel start to make their way into the area, making for some great light tackle action.
Inshore, the Redfish have started chewing with some good sized fish being caught near oyster beds and spoil islands. The Trout bite has been getting better by the day and should be hot in the coming months.
