We ran several kids fishing charters this week, also known as our nearshore trips, one of my favorite because of the enthusiasm with the young anglers. I came up with the 3 hour format because as a father of 2, I know how fast they can lose interest, we typically stay close to shore, in calm water, and get them fishing fast. This week we targeted spanish makerel, small sharks, grunts and various other fun to catch species with light tackle. Most of the fish we catch the kids have never seen in real life so the excitement level is high with every catch. By using light tackle we can let them really fish and only help when they need or want it. Of course the parents are encouraged to fish also but it’s more about the kids! All ages are welcomed and no experience whatsoever is needed!

Here’s a young angler on our nearshore charter doing a great job catching fish!

Baaaby shark doo doo doo-doo! That’s all I could think of when she reeled this little shark in!
