Florida has a huge variety of fish to target during the summer months. Sharks, Cobia, Barracuda, Red Snapper and many more are all active during the warmer months. Along with these, the Goliath Grouper seems to getting more and more popular to fish for. We offer a 6 hour trip that targets them specifically over sunken offshore structures. In the past several years we’ve established the proper tackle, rigging and techniques to give us the best shot at landing a beast! This summer our charter guests have enjoyed catching and releasing many fish including some well over 300 pounds. By using the absolute best equipment we can get the monsters up and released safely. Some of the Goliaths are over 50 years old, so it is important to make sure they are handled properly, always kept in the water and allowed to vent properly.
In addition while fishing for them, we also target sharks, Barracudas, Bonitas, etc. Most of the sharks we see during the summer months are Black Tips with Tigers, Hammerheads and Bulls not out of the question. The past week we saw a couple of Hammerheads that were over 10 feet cruising around the boat and in our chum slick and eating everything in sight. We practice catch and release on these as they play an important role in the fisheries. There were also plenty of big Barracudas landed in the past couple weeks, which are always fun to catch on the light tackle. By using live bait or topwater lures it allows for an explosive bite and almost always an air show while fighting them, once landed we take some pictures and release them. Over all the bite has been consistent on our deep sea fishing charters and our inshore charters and should stay in this pattern into the foreseeable future.
