Since we are right in the middle of summer, I figured I’d write a post about all of the opportunities and target species available. Starting with the deep sea fishing, on the half days we are targeting Grunts, Porgies, Hogfish and Grouper, plenty of action is to be had, however not a ton of keepers this time of year. On the 3/4 day charters we are getting into some nice gag Grouper, Mangrove Snapper, Grunts and Porgies and more. There tends to be more keeper fish on these 6 hour trips. The full day trips are seeing good numbers of keeper grouper and snapper, while the Red Snapper trip (10 Hours) is the best way to load up on meat. We also have been running a lot of Goliath Grouper Charters and having tremendous success, landing several fish well over 200 pounds on all of trips. Last but certainly not least, the Shark fishing has been on fire as well with Black Tips, Spinners, Bulls and Hammerheads the target species.
On the inshore side of things, we’re still catching quite a few Tarpon on the 6 and 8 hour trips. The Snook, Redfish and Trout have been cooperating nicely on the 4,6 and 8 hour charters. The kids 3 hour trips have also been seeing consistent action. All in all it’s a great time to get out on the water and enjoy some fishing in the Clearwater area.

Charter guest Sue with a couple of big red Snapper!
