April and May are typically excellent months to be fishing in Clearwater Florida. This year has been no exception, with both boats having epic days on the water. On the inshore side of thing the Redfish and Snook have been cooperating very well. Plenty of action with some quality fish in the mix. The Trout have been very easy and seem to be hitting the lures just as good as the live bait. This big news on the inshore front is the amount of Tarpon that have already showed up in our area and should be more through May. These beauty’s have been averaging around 80-100 pounds with some bigger fish mixed in. By targeting Tarpon around brides and beach passes we increase chances of hooking up as they congregate and feed in these areas.
The deep sea fishing has also been on fire in Clearwater. It’s no secret that the Gulf of Mexico has a huge diversity of life, but this has been ringing true more and more lately than ever before. Last week alone we enjoyed a great Hogfish bite followed by an unprecedented Kingfish bite, then on to limits of Grouper, Blackfin Tuna, Cobia, Permit and even a sailfish to top it off. This is due in large part to the amount of bait schools that are held up offshore of the coast. Sardines and thread fin herring are here by the thousands and the predator fish are not far behind.
As we look toward the end of the COVID-19 shutdown, we are very excited to get fishing will all of our customers again!!!
