Our deep sea charters have been getting into some solid Red Snapper and Grouper action on our 10 and 12 hour trips. The 8 hour charters have also been getting into some Snapper and Grouper, plenty of keepers on all of these trips but the biggest fish on the longer ones, mainly a direct correlation to deeper water. Red Snapper season continues until August 1st for our federally permitted charter boat. Grouper will remain open through the remainder of the year and Amberjack are set to open August 1st. In addition to all of these great fish, Mangrove and Lane Snapper have also been chewing good, and not surprising plenty of Mahi and Blackfin Tuna hitting the decks on the longer charters.
For the catch and release enthusiast, there is plenty of Shark, Goliath Grouper and Barracuda action. The Goliath’s have been in the 200-300 pound range with some bigger fish mixed in. This is an intense experience with true monsters of the Gulf of mexico! While shark fishing we’ve been catching a good amount of Black Tips, Bulls, Sandbar and an occasional Hammerhead. Also while targeting both sharks and Goliaths the Barracuda fishing has been fun using topwater lures and live baits.
Our inshore charters have been doing really well with Snook, Redfish and Trout. These trips can range between the kids 3 hour, 4 hour 1/2 day, 6 hour 3/4 day and full days along with Tarpon fishing charters. Expect consistent action while live baiting all of these fish along Clearwater Beach and the adjacent waters. For Tarpon fishing the action isn’t as consistent but once hooked up it is an exiting fight with fish over 100 pounds common to our area.
Whether you decide to take the deep sea fishing charter boat or our inshore boat, the fact is, this is a great time of year to make memories catching fish and lots of them!
