As we enjoy the cooler weather here in Florida, the fishing continues to heat up. Both of our boats have been catching a large amount and variety of species this week.
Starting with the deep sea fishing, our half day charters are targeting the tasty Hogfish with catches of Mangrove snapper mixed in. Although grouper season is closed, they have been biting really good and make for a fun catch and release target. The 3/4 and full day charters are enjoying the Hogfish catch as well as seeing plenty of Lane snapper and a few yellowtails for keeper species. The Amberjack are also fired up and make for a great catch and release fight for any angler.
The inshore fishing has also been good, with large speckled Trout being the consistent bite. The Redfish and Snook have been settling in to their cold water spots in the creeks and back bays making them a fun target species in the shallower waters. Sheepshead and Black Drum are always a good bet this time of year as well.
With the Clearwater area recovering from the recent hurricanes and less boat traffic the fishing has been excellent. For visitors to the area, it should be noted that as of now its business as usual for the area with most restaurants and other businesses open. We look forward to seeing all of our repeat customers and excited to meet new customers this year.
